Sublimating design thinking in order to highlight the power of innovation for society challenges

Interaction between design and innovation

POSTGRADUATE THESIS, 2012 - 2013.

Characterising the importance of industrial design in the deployment of innovation on several fields such as politics, society, economy and other, from a business thinking.

Thesis written at Polytechnic of Gijón and presented to overcome the master's degree in design management and later enlarged as pre-doctoral thesis at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Affective-Centered Smart Cities

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, 2013.

Research project to study technological and commercial viability of a product to manage the emotional relationship between citizens and their environment through real-time integrated emotional computing.

This university project makes use of a knowledge acquisition system following an open innovation model but also collaborations of technological institutions, companies and foundations. The results will be presented at the SmartMILE 2013 congress organized by the IEEE in December 2013.

Alternatives selection on systemic models

DESIGN METHODOLOGY, 2013.

Methodology for selection of alternative concepts in the design process based on systemic theory models.

The proper and efficient management and exhibition of the ideas generated to solve the problem early in a project, requires the appointment of a method to streamline the entire process and that projects results accepted by both parties, resulting in obtaining a framework that supports the development process after a design concept.

Explaining the additive manufacturing impact

RESEARCH PAPER, 2013.

An introduction on social, economical and environmental impact of additive fabrication technologies used in product design.

This research paper clarifies the multidimensional scope of possibilities in implementing additive manufacturing technologies in product design as an alternative to industrial paradigm inherited from the supply of products and services derived from a positivist globalizative sight.

Management on design innovation

RESEARCH PAPER, 2013.

The practice of innovation through design focused on business: organization and management in a company design system.

The way this activity is proposed is internalized in business and the target is the generation of a theoretical framework to create new organizational forms and new communication models between areas that streamline the deployment of innovative design projects of products and services.

The purchase decision on design

RESEARCH PAPER, 2013.

Design and advertising: The purchase decision phenomenon explained as a social construction theory based on Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann sociological concepts.

This research paper discusses the importance in communication and marketing where designers and advertisers focus their knowledge on methodologies and design techniques to enhance a shopping experience before the product is placed in the corresponding store. The objective of this paper is the supression of high subjectivity practices, which lead to randomness in search of design proposals not based on hard evidence.

"Voidness" as a cross resource on design

THEORETICAL RESEARCH, 2013.

This article is the result of a research conducted on the relationship between graphic design and product design junction.

Both disciplines on increasing consolidation in business fields but also as an academic discipline in of art and design colleges, in which there are several connection points at the origin of the design explanation process, but where there is no evidence beyond contrasting relationships. To this end, this research detects that the use of "voidness" or absence of matter, or form, existing in the practice of both disciplines, is one of the common point, and has to be developed and studied, to expose a vaguely defined relationship made between graphic and product design until now .

Entropy systems on design management

RESEARCH PAPER, 2013.

This research article addresses the term of Design Management and Innovation from a business environment sight, which analyze in depth, from syncretism, the theorical behavior of the interaction between the two terms if we understand this relation as an entropy system.

The result shows a new perspective on the studied matter and the launch of new scenarios that could permit the investment quantification in a system like the one described.

Russian avant-garde in new cities planning

MASTER'S RESEARCH, 2011.

To explode the proposed hypothesis described we compared the two variables separately, in order to find the multiple meanings of each and so make a list of similarities and differences, through the reading of texts, books and specialized writings on planning and art history.

Since we are addressing two issues that have an application in the creation of works, we will study the meanings of them from epistemological levels and not falling into the infinite formal applications that can present, ignoring the relationship between the peculiar geometries presented in the Russian avant-garde and similarities of the rationalist or deconstructivist building or contemporary sculptures influenced by this iconoclastic trend.

Design for accesibility from a humanist sight

ESSAY, 2012.

The design focus from this point of view acts on the shortcomings, limitations and restrictions of the activity of individuals in society, providing equal values communicated in a way that transcends common sociological channels to become a more valuable product and upgrades society too.

Therefore, the perspective on design and accessibility from an anthropology as is referenced here, broadly demonstrate the idea that society needs "good design", being the only that enables all individuals to be part of a cultural identity integrated.

Deconstruction in graphic design theory

RESEARCH PAPER, 2013.

An epistemological approach to graphic design practice from the deconstruction theories sight.

The result is a new look to the product resulting from the process of graphic design, but also in relation to the practice of the project itself and how it is involved in the unstructured construction theory with a disjointed appearance on design, development and presentation of different design results.

Food & leisure in Asturias

MARKET RESEARCH, 2013.

The Asturian hospitality, understood as a sector that supports design, combines natural products with rustic recipes and procedures rooted in folk wisdom, so it connects with the Principality of Asturias culture.

This sector is not immune to the impact of globalization and new demands from consumers, so that, in recent years, the focus on a model that combines innovation and the tool acquisition that respond to changes in the domestic market, have produced exciting new culinary going and also business opportunities on design.

The Collective Intelligence on design

THEORETICAL RESEARCH, 2012.

The concepts of Pierre Lévy in his book "Collective Intelligence: for an anthropology of cyberspace" flown to design management presenting new ways and approaches on open innovation.

It have been found some theoretical issues that may connect with the problem of design management, globally or isolated, offering new possibilities for understanding the meta-discipline issue here. The guidelines obtained aim to understand the importance of delocalize working groups to achive innovation solutions on design.

The Nemesis of Creativity and design

ESSAY, 2012.

An essay on the paradigm of civilized societies transform from an epistemological perspective, under the theories of Arnold J. Toynbee.

The fact that we framed in a social context dominated by global policy, whose foundations are rooted in the most pragmatic and utilitarian positivist theory of sociology, permits a lack of a proper intellectual tools for society to perceive the challenges that are to come, so as to obviate the possible paths that may offer praxiological alternatives founded on creativity, as an inherent human activity associated with innovation.
